By sticking to berry shades, I think a darker lip can look great during Spring. For a bright, plum toned red, I like the L'Oreal Shine Splash in 190 Endless Red (linked is shade Juliet which I think is the UK equivalent - I purchased this in the US). This is glossy and long wearing, and provides a great pop of colour. For a more toned down plum, I like Bourjois' Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Plum Russian. This is a much more subtle approach to a dark lip, and also wears really well. If you're feeling a bit more daring or want a darker lip for night time, then the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 107 Wine is a great option. Being matte, I think it works really well as a day time dark lip, but it also looks lovely at night too. This is one of those lipsticks that can be applied sparingly for a lighter colour, or layered up to create a dark pout. All of these shades definitely create a dark lip, but still have that pop of berry that makes them lively for Spring.
